Description: Reproduction WWII Italian M40 grey-green wool tunic with gray-green wool trouser set. This uniform was converted from a Swiss uniform back in the 80s when no one made Italian uniforms. The tunic follows the M40 design fairly closely except that it has no buttonhole on the lapel (these were not used in service anyway) and that two front buttonholes have been filled in and a new one created to simulate the M40 three-button front. The original lining remains but the inner chest pocket still works with a bandage pouch added to the inner front skirt. The proper wooden buttons are present with two placed on the rear skirts to simulate the hunter's pouches peculiar to this tunic. The detachable waistbelt is present with the correct two-button front. The tunic is redyed the proper dark gray-green color as are the trousers. The tunic measures 24 inches from armpit to armpit but I would call this a size 44 as I wear a size 48 and this tunic fits me REALLY TIGHT. The back measures 29.5 inches from the neck seam to the hem, and the sleeve measures 24 inches from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. The trousers have two front slash seam pockets and two rear pockets and are straight legged. A few inches have been added to the waist at the rear seam. These will fit a 38 inch waist snugly, so I would call these a 36 inch waist, The trousers have a low waist which runs along your actual waist and not your navel like German or British ones. A repro Italian military hemp trouser belt is included. The trousers have an inseam of 28.5 inches but are meant to be worn with puttees. This uniform was made to reenact in and not for a museum and is in a good wearable size.
