Description: Original Vintage Roll of Microfilm85 Pages of Documents Related toSikorsky WWII-Era Helicopter Development1942-1944Sikorsky XR-5, XR-6, and related matters [ FEATURES AND DETAILS... ] This listing is for an original vintage 35mm spool of microfilm produced by Micro Photo, Inc. (a subsidiary of Bell & Howell) in Cleveland, Ohio. The roll contains 85 pages of documents that they microfilmed for New Products Corp. The documents are all, in one way or another, related to the development of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation's XR-5 and XR-6 prototypes during World War II. The documents are dated 1942--1944. Specifically, most of the material involves correspondence between two parties and their staff:- Turkish-American inventor Oscar H. Banker, of New Products Corp. (Chicago), who was the inventor of the automatic transmission for automobiles, and continued on during WWII to invent and develop the clutching systems for Sikorsky's XR-5 and XR-6 helicopters.- Russian-American helicopter pioneer Igor Sikorsky, who established Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation.I have included close-up shots of a number of documents from this roll. There is much, much more--85 pages total. An amazing narrative of the cooperation between two great inventors to develop what ultimately became the renowned Sikorsky R-5 and R-6 series helicopters. [ CONDITION... ] - Beautiful vintage condition -- from a non-smoking environment.- No issues whatsoever with the film -- no "vinegar syndrome." - The spool itself has collected some dust during storage, as you see. I have refrained from deep-cleaning it, so as not to risk any damage to the film. But you could remove it all from the spool and clean it if you wish. The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER. [ ALL ABOUT SHIPPING... ]DON'T OVERPAY FOR SHIPPING: U.S. purchasers, you can choose from various shipping options in this listing.
