Description: This is a very nice World War I German 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class that is in excellent condition. The cross is with a clean, well-struck magnetic iron core. The details to crown, monogram ‘W’, and 1914 date on the obverse and oak leaf sprig and 1813 date on the reverse are crisp and sharp. The silver frame is with a dark age toned patina and a finely detailed, raised serrated bead running around the edge. The ring is marked, ‘KO’ for Königsliches Münzamt Orden, the Royal Military Orders Mint in Berlin. The cross is parade mounted on a metal bar with an unpadded drape ribbon that is sewn on the reverse and with a red wool facing. The ribbon is strong and undamaged. The reverse has the original pin and catch assembly, both of which remain fully functional. 8983
