Most wide spread use was as an aftermarket replacement for the factory ignition system on the Model T Ford automobile. It was used as both an improvement over the original system and also as a speed equipment add on. This coil is in fine working condition and supplies an extremely hot spark as shown in my video. I loosened the core of the plug to provide as wide a gap as possible and have no doubt it would jump a gap twice this wide. Notice the finger joints on the wooden case are all tight and this would be the perfect candidate to strip and finish in natural wood or repaint black, your choice.
