Reticle is a crosshair with a 3/4" tube. Optics are super clear! I think this was made for a centerfire or rimfire. It has a rimfire base, 3/4" tube. ==================== The J4 was made from 1947 to 1967.Field of view 37 feet @ 100 yards,eye relief 3 to 5 inches,length 11.5 inches,weight 6 ounces,tube diameter .750 inch. The J2.5 and J4 were thought of as rimfire scopes,but had enough eye relief and internal strength to fullfill their claim as high powered rifle scopes.
