Description: “Golden Books” (originally “Little Golden Books”) were conceived and published by Simon & Schuster in 1942 as some of the worlds first affordable children’s books. They released 12 titles that proved incredibly popular and, in 1944, Disney entered into a partnership with them. In the following years, a “Golden Book” was released to coincide with each of Disney’s upcoming releases. This 1950 release is an early novelization of Disney’s “Cinderella”. While the book follows the same story as the film, it’s made using a completely different animation style. The graphics in this book were designed by Retta Scott Worcester (as opposed to Eric Larson and Marc Davis, who designed the characters for the film). Worcester is famously the first female animator to receive a screen credit for Walt Disney Animation Studios. The book was published by Simon & Schuster and manufactured in the United Stated. The pages of this copy are in very good condition other than a small inscription on the inside cover, dated 1950. NOTE: The velum on the cover is peeling and the corners have a bit of damage - these are shown in the photos.
