For those who require a bit more resistance to disengagement, Speedplay provided pedals with Track Special #2 (gold) inserts, as used in these pedals. As you can see from the photo of the two inserts, the standard #1 (silver) inserts have much more lax angles, whereas the Track Special #2 (gold) inserts have much steeper angles. The steeper angles of the Track Special #2 inserts are what provides the additional resistance to disengagement. PLEASE NOTE: pedals with Track Special inserts require the same engagement force as those with the standard #1 inserts. ONLY the disengagement is affected.
