Description: A vintage and scarce reissue by Haviland (Limoges France) "ABRAHAM LINCOLN WHITE HOUSE SERVICE SET - TEA CUP & SAUCER SET". Fine Porcelain hand-made China by Haviland from the original 1861 Solferino Pattern, used in the Lincoln White House. A beautiful white porcelain base, with royal purple banding, gold banded accents, and (our) United States Presidential Eagle on the side of the Cup. The Haviland Solferino pattern was ordered by Mrs. Lincoln from E.V. Haughwout & Company (New York) during her 1861 buying trip. The service set was reordered by Presidents Johnson, Grant, and Arthur - each decorated in France by Haviland & Company. This is a reproduction piece issued by Haviland and was the White House service set that Lincoln used on the evening of his assassination. This is a LIMITED EDITION set (#1934) of 2500 produced in 1972, and includes ONE SET (a separate set is listed separately), exactly as shown in the listing photos. Signed: (Cup & Saucer) "Haviland Limoges France" - Gold; and "Haviland France" - Green. The underside of the Saucer plate is further inscribed: "Authentic reproduction of the cup and saucer made by Haviland in 1861 which President Abraham Lincoln used at dinner the night of April 14, 1965.
