Description: As shown in photos jacket has MULTIPLE stains/marks/spots. I don’t see any actual holes however. The inner navy contract/size tag was removed a long time ago (you can see the remnants of the tag at inner bottom hem in last photo) so I don’t know what size it—please see photos for measurements. The number 26 was stenciled to front ( I think the red spots are paint) and J. F. Thatcher (Jack) was stenciled to back at some point. In doing a little research I found a John (Jack) F. Thatcher who served as a radio man in WWII on Navy ship USS Salt Lake City when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He lived in California until he died several years ago, so this may have been his jacket. The inside seams were ‘rubberized’ in the 1940s for better protection against weather, but sadly that rubber has disintegrated over the last 80 years. It doesn’t affect the wearing of the jacket, the seams are sewn together, but there are small bits of black rubber that fall out here and there.
