Description: Absolutely incredible original 1970’s Batik folk art painting by Vipula Dharmawardena! Listed Artist: Vipula Dharmawardena of Sri Lanka Medium: Batik painting on textile fabric mounted to canvas. Original wood frame Signed on front lower right-serial information is on back with possible date. Information/Numbers are covered behind key-imagery does not show all identification numbers. Measures: Batik- 32.25” x 45” Frame: 32.75” x 45.5” Dates: 1970’s- exact age is unknown- could possibly be identified by viewing information under key. Condition: Needs restoration! Stains, soiling, spots, sun exposure damage, fade, small holes, pulls, snags, toning, loss, paint spots and stains and wear from age/storage. Batik was mounted to canvas. Mounting is uneven and could use restretching. Batik presents slightly uneven on right side-see imagery for details. While the Batik does need restoration to repair areas described above it stills hangs exceptionally well! It’s incredible! Frame: This is the original frame but it does need repair or newer frame! Damage, large split on top, side stretcher bar has large break/crack, shows previous repairs, center tension bar was clearly added later, missing keys, stains, scuffs, heavy wear, missing pieces, scratches, breaks and loss. Batik and frame are sold as-is, as shown in images provided.
