Vintage Temple Wooden AM Tube Radio E514 (1946) ***BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED***

Description: This is a cute little post WWII radio made of wood solids and veneers that still has the original finish. Unusual in a way, the dial on this AM radio is reversed so that the 55KC is on the right and the 1700 is on the left! It does show some minor wear consistent with its age. That does not detract from its overall very appealing appearance. With simple and clean lines, it presents well and would certainly add to a collection with its unique dial. It has an "All American Five" superheterodyne chassis with rich and mellow tube sound. With five tubes and an internal loop antenna, it receives AM quite well with very good sensitivity, selectivity and sound. The external antenna spud wire is for improved reception if needed for your locale by attaching a longer piece of wire to it. And of course, as with all the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. Please check the reviews on other radios I have restored and sold. The cabinet was completely disassembled and cleaned. The original finish was then treated to a much-needed nourishment and balancing agent. The entire cabinet was waxed twice over a week with a quality polish/wax with great results. The glass dial face graphics are crisp, clear, and pleasantly lighted. The power cord was replaced with a modern polarized one. The photos say the rest about how wonderfully this radio displays and the charming presence it has. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. This cute Baby Boomer radio will fit in just about anywhere and its simplicity is evocative of the innocent days of yesteryear. Now that it is completely restored, it will continue to provide reliable service more many more years if well cared for. Dimensions: 13x9x7" IT IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED THAT THIS AND ALL OLD RADIOS BE UNPLUGGED BETWEEN USING AS A PRECAUTION. This radio will be packaged very carefully for shipment and may be double boxed if needed to best protect it. It will have packing materials placed between the chassis/tubes and cabinet to reduce the risk of tube displacement or damage during shipment. The buyer must remove those materials prior to use. The seller will instruct the buyer on how to accomplish this after the radio has shipped. Buyers should note that tube AM & SW radio reception can often be very negatively affected by florescent, LED and other lights, even those in another room. It can also be affected by FAX machines and other devices. If you are having reception interference, try turning off those devices and check for improvement. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good working order. The seller cannot guarantee the length of time before a tube will need to be replaced. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
