Description: Vintage Parker Duofold Jr. - Black Hard Rubber - 1924 - For Parts Or Repair Up for sale today is an early version of one of Parker's most famous pens, the "Duofold." This is the shorter junior model, appears to be made of hard rubber and has the "medium" Duofold imprint that was only used between 1924 and 1926 from my research. The pen is being sold for parts or repair for one big reason - the nib. It is missing its tipping, has a crack in the heel of the nib, and a small portion of the bottom of the nib has broken off. It probably would still be usable if it had tipping but I think with all these issues the nib is beyond repair. Condition Notes: - It is discolored as is common with these hard rubber pens but the discoloration is fairly even (better under where the cap would rest, and also where it posts). I do not see any structural damage, no cracks or damage, although there are some smaller scratches and general wear. Very strong "Duofold Jr." imprint but the rest of the imprint is a little worn. - Other than the nib, parts appear to be in good order. Pressure bar has a few splotches of rust and dirt but is springy and works well. "Lucky Curve" feed is in good shape with an undamaged tail (this part is often broken in these older pens from old repairs). - Gold fill trim has some wear, particularly some areas of brassing on the cap ring and ball of the clip but in better shape than average in my opinion. - I have given this pen a gentle cleaning - the feed and section are very clean and ready for a new nib and sac. Inside of the pen was scrubbed with a soft bristle brush and I also cleaned up the threads of the section a little bit as it was sealed with shellac when I got it. - Outside of the pen was wiped with some soft tissues and gently polished with a Sunshine polishing cloth to get rid of some of the dirt but I did not do much here as I did not want to get the pen wet and make the discoloration worse or wear down the already worn imprint. Misc: The pen will be shipped reassembled; I have not pushed the "lucky curve" feed in 100% of the way for ease of disassembly as I am expecting you may want to fit a new nib in it. Overall, this pen is in pretty nice condition for being nearly a hundred years old and more uncommon than the later celluloid/"permanite" Duofolds. I was hoping to keep this for myself when I bought it but I wasn't aware it had a broken nib and I do not have a replacement. Hoping this one will go to someone who can properly restore it. As this is a vintage item, it is being sold as-is, particularly as it is for parts. Please see the above description and the pictures for a full idea of the pen's description. I have tried to photograph all of the relevant parts but please let me know if you need any additional pictures or information.
