Vintage Original Coal Sculpture Bust – 1959 – GDC

Description: Offered here is this Vintage Original Coal Sculpture Bust. It is dated 1959 and was made in January of that year. The piece was sculpted by an anonymous coal miner who later perished in a mining disaster. It has only had one owner. The sculpture is in good condition and is sculpted from a single piece of very dense coal. The piece has some cracks in it from general age and wear, but is in over all amazing condition, especially for such an old piece. It has a little brass plaque on the front of the base that is written in Polish and translates to “In memory of the stay of the Polish Mining and Energy Delegation in Great Britain, Styrzen 1959.” It is about 16” tall, 9.5” long front to back, and 8.5” wide. It is a unique piece, one-of-a-kind, and is a wonderful tribute to coal miners and the work that they do. It is a very well-done art piece that is sure to be a treasured addition to your collection.
