The mask appears to have been made in a mold and hand painted to simulate carved wood with a faux grain pattern found in real wood. Over the years, some of this painted finish has worn off, probably from handling and wear from cleaning (see photographs). There are several nicks and worn areas on the mask, none really big, but we mention them for accuracy. The original silk cord was a purple color, but has faded in time. It is still attached and can be used to hang the mask on the wall. Please note that this mask was sold for decorative purposes; not used. We believe the mask was made in the last quarter of the 20th Century, but buyers should review the photographs carefully to determine age on their own. Measurements: The Noh mask measures approximately 8.25” in height and measures 4.5” in width. It measures approximately 2.75” deep (measured lying flat at the beard). This item weighs approximately 7.2 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: We carefully examined this item. As mentioned in the description, there is wear to some of the painted surfaces from handling and cleaning. There are several small nicks around the eyes, cheeks and nose. The silk cord is faded.
