Description: Vintage Harmony Supertone Mandolin, 1930, made in the USA. This mandolin really is something special..not only surviving the last 100 years, but looking and sounding fantastic. You can see it online in Sears catalogs from the 30's..sold for $4.95...the case was $1.25 if you wanted! The reputation, craftsmanship, and quality have not been beaten...even up to today's standards. After getting this in my shop, it has had a complete refurbishing. Looks like, from the condition, around the 50's, it was given a makeover, adding artwork to the top, the neck was painted, etc...and they took the pickgaurd off. I have sanded it down, bringing out the natural look, without comprimising the artwork, and now shows all of it's stories..be them long and varied. All hardware was removed, serviced, and now in working order. After sanding, light stain applied for blending, and hand rubbed Poly added for protection and durability. It looks fantastic. Both look great, with, or without the pickgaurd, it will ship with it on. During the refurb, it was constantly played, and tuned, bring it back to life. Nothing leaves the Orphamn shop without passing the test of being ready to be sent out to the public. They are delicate, so after sitting, a little tuning will be needed...slowly..cranking on the tuners will likely snap the high strings. As stated, a full refurb has been done, new strings, everything on her is original, including tuners, nut, bridge, and string trapeze. Is ready to go out of the box.
