Description: The Vintage ( Circa.1960s ) Cubism Still Life Hand Pulled Color Lithograph on Wove Paper "Nature Morte a la Palette" ( Still Life with Palette ), After Georges Braque ( French, 1882-1963 ), Signed in Plate 'G. Braque' in Upper Right. Georges Braque Utilized Fluid Lines and Earthy Tones of Browns, Oranges, and Greens to Replace the Cubist Formality of His Early Compositions with An Organic Quality that would Come to Characterize the Artist's Later Works. Braque Provides A Distinct Foreground and Background, Including the Table Upon which the Palette Rests As Part of the Overall Composition, and Offers the Viewers An Intimate Vantage Point, As Though They are Gazing into the Artist's Private Space. The Colors All in Muted Tones of Blue, Green, Brown, and Orange, Combine Harmoniously to Produce A Subtle Yet Marvelous Still life Artwork. Few Minor Wear on the Mat, In Good Condition. About Georges Braque:"Georges Braque ( French, 13 May 1882 – 31 August 1963) was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque's work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso. His first solo show was at Daniel-Henri Kahnweiler’s gallery in 1908. From 1909 Pablo Picasso and Braque worked together in developing Cubism; by 1911 their styles were extremely similar. In 1912 they started to incorporate collage elements into their paintings and to experiment with the papier collé (pasted paper) technique. Their artistic collaboration lasted until 1914. In 1931 Braque made his first engraved plasters and began to portray mythological subjects. His first important retrospective took place in 1933 at the Kunsthalle Basel. He won first prize at the Carnegie International, Pittsburgh, in 1937."
