This is an enigmatic work . It says so much . Produced in 1985 by Austin Productions , 'Kneeling Nude' is a creation of sculptor Mort Malkin . The figure is done in thick porcelain and mounted on a black wooden base . She is engaged in an evocative pose kneeling and bending forward , her long straight hair running over , down and partly obscuring her freely hanging , relaxed arms . It could be a position of supplication , exhaustion , surrender or even yogic meditation whatever the inspiration , it gives us a feeling of peace . Although created in 1985 it is certainly reminiscent of the Art Deco creations of the 1930's while adding a modern sensibility . This is one of the select pieces of truly great Art that Austin Productions has given us . I love this piece . It comes with the original small folded piece of paper which informs of the studio , the sculpture and the artist . This piece , when available , sells for much more than is asked here . It will look great anywhere .
