Here's a description from a similar Hubert Harmon belt which sold for $1900 at auction..."This is a Hubert Harmon iconic design that you will find when scrolling through his work. He was an American who was trained in Paris, then went to Taxco in the 1940’s. He produced work that embodied his whimsical personalty versus playing off of the traditional cultural influence, and was known for working with mixed metals. He was considered a modernist that was highly sought after and currently continues to be very collectable and quite rare. Some of his most notable motifs include fish, serpents, and atomics. The piece is encouraged to be worn as a necklace or as a belt. The work is raw in nature, bold, and chunky. It is casual but is a statement. It hangs well, is versatile, and is such sweetness to offer.Necklace is handmade of leather and brass rings from which the fish pendant hooks.Vintage from 1940’s.
