Description: A vintage, handmade brooch representing a Jing mask, or Chinese opera mask. A serenely smiling Buddha mask is apparently pushed up and worn on the forehead of a darker and more ambiguous face. Hand painted in shades of black, red, brown, pink and cream with a brown painted varnished back. Brass safety pin back is affixed through a folded brass loop. Brooch is lightweight and appears to be constructed of molded paper mache or clay, or a combo of both. It measures approx. 3.5 cm x 2.25 cm and weighs approx. 4.72 grams. It is vintage from the 1960’s or ‘70’s and was likely a souvenir from China. Generally in good condition with no damage, some small flea bites/ nicks to surface consistent with age. Feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
