Description: Vintage 1942 "Jasper and the Watermelons" By George Pal, A Children's BookPARAMOUNT star of GEORGE PAL'S PUPPETOONS ****** 1945 by Diamond Publishing Company *** Nice sized 8 1/2in. x 10 5/8, with 28 pages, all of bright colored illustrations and story *** There is a Happy Birthday message on the page after the cover page to my dad "Larry Paul From The Joneses April 20, 1946" in neat blue ink. VERY VERY RARE Many people tossed this book in the trash in the 60's so there isn't very many left in circulation. November 13, 1956 was when US Supreme Court ruled segregation was unconstitutional. Segregation of public facilities was officially outlawed on July 2, 1964. So this book is really park of our American history. It is very RARE and will continue to become harder to find and increase in value. Especially as good as shape as mine is in. Granted the spine separated and is taped back on but there is really only a couple pages torn bad enough they needed taped to prevent them from getting worse.. There is writing on a few pages and I will take photos of those for you to see. I was scared to flip through the pages anymore than I have to knowing how old it is, how dry & brittle the pages are and how much it is worth because it is so rare. It is simply a heartwarming story of a little African American boy who loved to eat watermelon and was told by his Mammy Lou he couldn't have any until after supper yet he had his eye on a big fat juicy one in the garden. He sneaks off to eat it and pays dearly for it afterwards by getting sick because he ends up eating the whole thing. Poor boy. If you have ANY questions at all, PLEASE ask since I am asking such a high price and do not plan on coming down in my price. Like I said, It is only going to become more scarce as times goes on.
