Description: Excuse the dust. This is a wonderful miniature signed by Le Brun. It is a self portrait hand painted by Vigee Le Brun herself. It is painted on natural thin wafer. You can see the brush strokes in the painting. Vigee Le Brun was known for her self portraits. This one, being signed by her, is a rare find indeed. We did examine it out of frame and it is "natural thin wafer". The pictures show the back of the painting and when we put sunlight on it the image showed through. The frame is not in the best condition (see pictures) but lends to the charm. We also centered the painting so that it is perfect in the oval. The frame can be replaced as well.
