Description: RARE: Early Vietnam Era US Army M1 Ground Troop Combat Helmet "Steel Pot" and Liner w/Mitchell Camouflage Cover & Band - Complete - Dated 1968 - Very NICE Condition Up for sale is an Early Vietnam Era M1 Ground Troop Combat Helmet. More commonly known as the "Steel Pot". This is a Complete M1 Helmet. It is used, see photo's for Condition. This helmet consists of the following components: Rear Seam, Swivel Bale, Steel Pot, with chin straps very nice condition. OD Green Paint no major dents or damage. Early liner, w/OD Green canvas suspension, the suspension has a 1968 contract date. Very NICE Condition with OD Green Paint. OD Green Canvas suspension NICE Condition, no corrosion on the metal clips. Leather sweat band w/all clips Nice Condition, leather has darkened, several cracks and breaks in the leather. It has a 1972 contract date. Early Neck Strap, nice condition. The marking & contract date are no longer legible. Mitchell Camouflage Helmet Cover, nice color, no fading. No rips or tears. Slits cut for chin straps. The cover markings are present, with early contract number with no discernible date. Excellent Condition, with an original OD green helmet band. No markings on the band. The cover and band alone are worth about $70. Complete Vietnam Era M1 Combat Helmets are getting very collectible.
