The Sanguinomicon dives in to practical "Dayside" (mundane) topics first: things such as ensuring to care for yourself and your physical legacy, basic tenets and ideas of this specific path, references to other types of vampires, and so on. "True Vampyre" is certainly used a lot, and absolutely comes off as pretentious and stuck up, but I haven't met a vampire who isn't a bit showy and "extra" in at least some ways, myself included. The sections on spirituality and vampirism, the importance placed on balance and grounding within the physical world, and remembering to enjoy and embrace it, that make all this so different. It's very left-hand path in this sense (and it's obvious the author uses quite a bit of chaos magic as well) but this certainly seems fitting as vampires are often seen as dark, vicious beings. You really do need to go at this book with an open mind. Even if you don't agree with everything, opposing viewpoints and considerations are good for you to get a balanced idea of certain topics. You don't have to become Strigoi Vii, you don't have to associate with any of the organizations or individuals, you don't have to follow this path and this path alone. You can take what you need, appreciate its place in the vampire subculture, and you can move on. The Sanguinomicon and it's Companion book Vampyre Magick are a must have for all those who would seek to transform themselves, from one of the mindless sheep that populate the mundane world, and experience the will of the true predator, that exists within all of our souls.
