Description: This is an incredible old time valuable collection housed in an enormous 1906 Schaubek album, weighing over 5.5kg! There are many thousands of stamps with good coverage of most areas and high value stamps throughout. Given the German origins of this album, the Europe section is very strong with the emphasis being on the German States. An even more impressive feature is that a large proportion of the German States stamps are expertised, which is unusual to find and most reassuring given the question mark over the authenticity of many of these stamps, especially the higher values. Notable other sections are some of the Commonwealth countries with very nice ranges to top values and also South and Central America, where catalogue values are not so high but with many countries being extremely well filled, are very useful indeed. USA also looks like it will reward. Inevitably, there will be stamps from other areas that are likely to be questionable - reprints etc, but this is part and parcel of these older collections, but generally the this wonderful accumulation has been well collected. The condition of the stamps also appears to generally be above average for such an old time collection but there will of course be faults and mixed condition in places, mint stamps without gum etc. Given the layout of these albums, the early issues for Commonwealth countries do not always have spaces for different watermarks so these will need to be checked through. I have not checked in any detail at all, except for a couple of instances where catalogue values vary greatly. The end of this album also has a good number of pages for cutouts, lettercards, envelopes/wrappers etc. Overall this is a fantastic collection holding a huge catalogue value. It should give someone many hours of fun checking through and then continuing to try and fill more and more gaps of this immens album! The 600+ images below show all pages with three or more stamps, unless more noteworthy, and also includes many close up pictures. Please do take the time to have a good look through.
