Description: This is absolutely a fantastic piece of US History and an extremely rare item. It is an Ohio State Seal Hat Plate that would have been placed on the front of a forage, bummer or Shako Hat. It has both attachment hooks reporting for duty. As you can see from the photos it is sculptured out of brass. It measures roughly 3 1/2 inches across by 2 1/2 inches high. It is way more rare than the Ohio State Seal sword belt plate or breast Plate or even any of the 3 sizes of OVM breast plates. Ask yourself when is the last time you saw one of these and I would suspect never. This is also out of my longtime collection and the only one I've ever seen personally in over 40 years collecting.
