Description: This listing is for a Unique 1950s Jealous Lover Mexican Embroidered Tourist Jacket Size S. This is an iconic Mexican jacket that was made for the tourists visiting Mexico in the 1940s to the 1960s. Out of my collection, this jacket is quite unique in that instead of showing quaint village scenes, this jacket highlights a jealous lover lurking behind a tall cactus with a big knife! It is a beautiful cream wool felt with colorful embroidered rugs, sombreros, cacti, horseshoes, villagers, and fencing on the front, collar, and sleeves. It has turquoise and burgundy cross stitching around the collar, cuffs, and pockets, and down the front and along the bottom of the jacket. Based on the puffed sleeves, this jacket is circa late 1940s to early 1950s. This is one of my special "museum collection" jackets that I have enjoyed during my ownership. I have gotten so much attention from both women and men wanting to study the back when wearing this particular jacket. This jacket is in beautiful condition with no holes, stains, or missing threads, and the embroidery is incredible. There are a couple of very tiny wear marks on the left sleeve as shown in the last photo. These are not holes and are barely seen unless you are specifically looking for them. Any dark areas are shadows from photographing. These jackets, meant to be worn open, always look great with jeans, skirts, and especially, with the vintage Mexican circle skirts. I have a collection of over 140 of these jackets that I have amassed over the last 35 years. I have really enjoyed wearing these jackets over the years, and at this point in my life, I have decided to sell off my whole collection. I selected only jackets that were in impeccable condition. My jackets have been stored in a cedar lined, cool storage space to prevent any damage from sunlight or insects. I have collected every color and design imaginable. Most are a size S or M.
