Description: Touch Sensitive Keying Platform (with headers to swap paddle orientation)This Morse key/paddle is a novelty/fun item designed to provide a touch sensitive platform for Morse keying when connected to an Iambic style Morse keying unit such as those provided by ourselves or other suppliers like MFJ (e.g. MFJ 492 and similar).There is no doubt that fast accurate Morse code is best derived with a well-designed mechanical paddle and we are not suggesting that this touch key unit can or should replace a conventional Morse paddle, however, it does allow for fast agile Morse to be sent after a little practice.The key is based on resistive touch technology rather than hum pickup or capacitive touch techniques. As such the touch action relies on the operator bridging two contacts with a finger (preferred) and the body resistance completes the circuit causing a transistor switch to ‘close’. A pair of headers located near the key jack allow the touch pad orientation to be swapped to allow left and right hand operation. By moving the header to the 1+2 position left hand Dah operation is initiated, by moving the headers to the 2+3 position right hand Dah operation is initiated. Both headers need to be moved to the same position on the jumpers.Integral CR2032 coin cell (on underside of PCB) (not supplied) powers the key, with uA current draw it will last a long time, before needing replacement. Tested with dry, very dry and less dry test fingers and a variety of Iambic keyers, including those from :Electro-Resales, MFJ & AEA.Contacts are gold plated to ensure a solid reliable touch contact, PCB color may vary (Blue, green, red).
