FYI… your cactus will 100% change over time. With periods of growth that are lumpy, ribbed, smooth, skinny & fat these can callous tan, red or black. it’s not a fungus or mold:) propagating instructions let these callous completely… they are fresh cuts. typically takes about 2 weeks and will be rough to the touch After planting… Keep it in filtered (shaded) light. Put it in well draining soil and wait at least a month to water them. Think of potatoes in the cupboard that grow roots. Out of sight out of mind
