Description: Exceedingly rare. Fiske’s (1883 - 1952) memoir of his time living among the Lakota Sioux on the Standing Rock Reservation in the very early 20th century, illustrated with his own photographs including many portraits. Fiske relates stories of Sitting Bull, Custer, the Battle of Little Big Horn and more. (These were related to him by Lakota elders.) Inscribed and signed by Fiske on flyleaf. His inscription mentions that this copy is “one of the last of the first edition.” Dust jacket is very rare in any condition. This one is largely intact, with some obvious areas of loss. Jacket is protected in archival Brodart cover. Book is near fine. Please see all pictures and message me with any questions. Customer satisfaction guaranteed. Will be shipped with care.
