Additonally the society was to be both philanthropic and commercial by providing economic releif for the German government. They held the belief that immigration to new markets in Texas would provide markets for exports and imports for German good. Futher, the new markets would promote German maritime commerece. December 26, 1846, Heinrich Kreische and his brother Carll arrive in Galveston and made their journey inland toward their respective land grants, each receiving 400 acres on the Llano River in central Texas.
