Description: First edition thirteenth printing hardcover copy of The Age of Anxiety: A Baroque Eclogue (Random House, 1947). Rare early printing of this classic work of long-form poetry which utilizes a modernized version of alliterative verse. It tells of a tale of war-time New York City and the loneliness and anxiety suffered by its characters, but this subject matter intentionally contrasts the traditional and pastoral style in which it is presented. Somewhat existential yet classical, this is a beloved and unique work in the genre. Jacket is protected in new archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges. Faint sticker discoloration to bottom left corner of back cover. Boards are straight and clean but with corners slightly bumped. Binding is firm and spine is fairly straight. Faint rectangular discoloration to front endpaper where an ex-libris sticker once was. See photos for condition. Packaged with care and shipped via USPS Media Mail
