Quoted from the official X (formerly Twitter) account (@mononoke_kyoto): The Summer Flower Field under the Golden Sky Murakami’s Flowers occupying the wide frame—the first version of this Flower series appeared in 2002 at his solo exhibition in Paris, along the theme of Anime and Otaku. The original version had a blue sky in the background. The stylized, front-facing flowers allude to the Peacock and Hollyhocks of Ogata Korin, the legendary artist who inspired Murakami as an art student. The version created for this exhibition includes several modifications to the original, including the distribution of the flowers and cloud shapes.
