Description: Antique Chinese porcelain hat stand vase, very finely decorated in Famille Rose with the “100 Antiques” motif. Unusual iron red ruyi and keyfret borders at top and bottom. Rare hand-painted mark 瓜瓞綿綿 or “gua die mian mian,” a rebus blessing of wishes for ceaseless generations of progeny. Based on the enamels, style, and quality of painting we date this to circa Daoguang (1820-1850). One notable aspect of this vase is that it is heavily potted - at more than 1550 grams, it weighs substantially more than later Qing and Republic examples, which tend to weigh around 800-1200 grams. Approximately 11 1/8” (28.25cm) tall. Drilled for lamp. Kiln flaws and associated hairline in base. Light surface wear. Please zoom in and study all photos as they are part of the description.
