Description: Check out my other garden delights! Apiarists, homesteaders, and gardeners will definitely find something of interest! Taxonomic Information: Genus: Hylotelephium Species: telephium 'Autumn Joy' Synonyms: Hylotelephium telephium 'Herbstfreude', Sedum 'Autumn Joy'*Taxonomists are currently sorting the Family & Genus of these species Common Names: Stonecrop, Red Sedum, Autumn Sedum, Butterfly Sedum, orpine, livelong, life-everlasting, live-forever, frog's-stomach, harping Johnny, midsummer-men, orphan John, witch's moneybags Description: I agree with FineGardening's summation of this great plant: "This plant is as dependable and adaptable as they come." It is perfectly happy inside or on the porch/patio, so long as it receives some sun. Most people plant it outdoors. This species is one of the easiest flowers to grow. It is hot and cold hardy. It can tolerate drought, flooding, shade, and direct sunlight. Sedum is one of the few pretty flowers that blooms late in the summer/autumn, and it is one of the few that can take direct afternoon sun here in the steamy sun belt. It is beautiful as a cut flower in arrangements, and it is great for "low maintenance" areas! A+ plant! It is not invasive, but it can spread if you allow it. It is great for filling in (even difficult) areas of your garden due to its adaptability. The charming flowers start off pink and turn dark red with age. Butterflies can not resist visiting the engaging blooms. The only time that I ever witnessed one of these plants killed was when my neighbor tried to grow one in her dark bedroom (zero sunlight). Even then, it lived for months before finally succumbing. Apart from being beautiful and care-free, the plant has other advantages: people with a backyard flock will find that chickens love sedum snacks! It is also edible for people. It does not have much flavor, but I enjoy it from time to time. The young leaves can be eaten raw. The old leaves and tubers/roots are fine cooked. What is Included: Please select from the drop-down menu above. Rooted plants are "normal"/"starter" plants with roots (shipped bare-root). Cuttings are sections cut from the specimens which will require a few weeks to develop roots before they start really growing. They will be at least 4 inches long. They will have at least two leaves. They root easily, requiring no hormones or pre-treatment. *I cut & ship within 1 hour of each other, and I personally deliver the cuttings directly to the post office. I have zero rooting complaints and many repeat orders.* Planting Instructions with pictures will be sent after purchase (they are easy peasy lemon squeezy) More information: finegardening.com/plant/stonecrop-sedum-autumn-joyalabamawildlife.org/oc-plant-id-autumn-joy-sedum/ bellarmine.edu/faculty/drobinson/Sedum.asp waterwiseplants.org/find-a-plant/autumn-joy-sedum/southernliving.com/garden/plants/autumn-joy-sedum missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=f560 pnwplants.wsu.edu/PlantDisplay.aspx?PlantID=152worldcat.org/title/244766414 FAST SHIPPING!
