Description: This is a first-generation COPY of an original first season script from the STAR TREK series (not a transcript or Photoshop-created imitation). It's the 24th episode, titled “This Side of Paradise”. The original 1967 script was owned by Greg Jein who worked for series creator Gene Roddenberry and went on to be a noted model maker. The original was boldly signed by Captain Kirk himself, WILLIAM SHATNER, in July 2022. A copy is being offered here..In this iconic episode, Kirk and his Enterprise crew investigate a planet whose colonists should be dead, but are not. They discover that they are under the influence of strange plant life and also succumb to its influence. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) gets a second chance at love with a botanist named Leila (Jill Ireland) and, for the first time in his life, is truly happy. Roddenberry asked Dorothy Fontana to rework the original script "The Way of The Spores" by Jerry Sohl and she did so well with it that she became the show’s story editor. Sohl was so unhappy about the rewrite that he used the pseudonym “Nathan Butler” for his onscreen story credit. His real name appears on this script. Fun fact: The scene where Kirk returns to the empty Enterprise bridge was used for the composited bridge set that Scotty visits in the Next Generation episode, Relics. The first season of Star Trek stars William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, George Takei, and Nichele Nichols. The cover has been copied in color and a sheet of acetate is included to keep it looking pristine. The interior pages have been copied in black and white, and the backing is sturdy black card stock, This makes for a great conversation piece for your coffee table or a unique gift for the classic TV fan in your life.
