She operated on the Lisbon to Beira service with ANGOLA and MOCAMBIQUE, while NIASSA was designed as an emigrant carrier for the Lisbon - Angola service, also doing a significant number of trooping voyages up to 1975. RITA MARIA was one of four passenger and cargo liners built 1949-1954 in Lisbon for Sociedade Geral Cape Verde and Guinea services, and transferred to Cia Nacional in 1972. Collector's items.
