Description: And just where, pray tell, have we seen a light fixture as outrageously unique and visually captivating as this!? And from where else, but La Belle France, ground zero for 1920s creativity and whimsy? The glass “candles” are about a foot tall, and adorned with a spiraling motif. There’s a small hole in the top of each to allow heat escapement, of course… they did think of just about everything! This fixture has its original nickel finish, which has been somewhat compromised by the elements and Time Herself. There are a couple of small places where the nickel has peeled off or been otherwise damaged, but overall it’s in “okay” condition (mild pitting, scratches, etc.), resulting in what we now have as the equivalent of a “brushed nickel” finish -- an “antique” finish. Typically I disassemble fixtures I've bought in France and have them re-plated, but the three arms are soldered to the central element, and that makes re-plating extremely difficult, and very expensive. I consider the finish entirely presentable. The glass is in perfect condition (with the exception of a small chip or two at the bottom, out of sight when installed). I consider it nothing less than a small miracle that these have survived nearly a hundred years of use! The floral Art Deco decorative elements on the central element are stylized, simply geometric on the canopy -- restrained and elegant, as is the overall look of this lighting fixture. The entire fixture has been rewired. I’ve employed the original French bayonet sockets, which are infinitely better designed and constructed than anything new that might replace them. There’s a new adaptor installed in each bayonet socket that allows you to use American screw-in bulbs. These come in a variety of wattages and lengths, the highest wattage being 60. So, you could use tubular bulbs of 60-watts each for a total of 180 watts, which is a decent amount of light. I’m going to send you 3 brand-new tubular bulbs of 40 watts each. If you’d like to add a “wow” factor to your home, you’ve arrived at the right place! And, talk about a “conversation starter.” Leave it to the French… Measurements: about 25 long, 17 in diameter.
