Description: This was part of a large archive of original photographs I picked up, that were taken by the photographer Fred L. Merrill in the 1910s around Durango, Colorado. Merrill had a home outside of Durango, and travelled the area in a wagon studio pulled by two mules.. I own a great photo of his wagon that I would be happy to share a pic of, if interested.. send me a message using the contact form! In the 1920 census, the 45-year-old Merrill is listed as living just outside of Durango (with his 16-year-old wife!), his occupation listed as "Photographer / Own Gallery". Most of the photos Merrill took - at least in this archive I picked up - were of Native Americans. The image offered in this listing is an original photograph of an older Native American man, his wife and daughter, taken by Merrill circa 1915. On the back in pencil is written: "Preacher and family of the Ute Indian Church". Dimensions are 5 3/8" x 3 1/8". Very good antique condition.. please use the hover/zoom feature to examine the details. 6250a
