Description: Southern Live Oak Sapling. Sapling will resemble item in photos. There are several photos of what the sapling will look like fully grown. Saplings were germinated from acorns collected in fall of 2020. Shipping note. Sapling roots will be placed inside of a plastic bag with soil, perlite and a spritz of water. Entire plant will be placed inside of a cardboard tube for protection. Damage note: A damaged sapling stem or "no leaves" is not the end of the saplings life. The sapling will throw off new shoots if the sapling is still alive. Due to the resilience of the Southern Live Oak it is important to note: If sapling is exposed to enough heat then the leaves can burn and dry. However this does not mean that the sapling is dead. Simply plant it into a larger pot "one gal is best" and keep the soil damp by watering every three to four days while having sapling placed in a shady location where the sun only peaks through at times throughout the day. Key is to mimic the environment in which the sapling will grow naturally which would be right under the canopy of it's parent tree. Warning: Squirrels love to dig up saplings in search of an acorn. So a protective cage or pool patio is a welcome temporary home for the oak sapling until it has some significant growth.
