Description: Possibly a joke, possibly due to his long battle with depression, Wallace signed this copy with the short quote "It doesn't matter" and then his name, while crossing out his printed name on the title page. Perhaps he said this to the acolyte that had him sign this copy. The dust jacket and cover are all intact, boards and DJ have moderate shelfwear along the bottom edge, I suppose it was kept on a high shelf? Top edge has more minor wear. Previous owner lived in a dusty house, and there is some dust settled on the DJ and bottom corner of the page edges. The pages and text are in excellent condition. I don't think anyone attempted to read this book, but the amount of shelfwear leads me to believe the previous owner took this off the shelf to show it off a lot. Maybe they kept another copy to read/furrow in. I haven't seen another listing where he left this quote but it does speak to the mood, mode, and irony he felt his life was spiraling into as he became a literary superstar. Please don't message with lowballs, this is a one of a kind signature from DFW. NOS
