About Lord Wigram: Clive Wigram, 1st Baron Wigram, known as Lord Wigram, was a British civil servant and courtier, renowned for his service to the British royal family during the early 20th century. Educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge, Wigram began his career in the British Civil Service, eventually serving as Private Secretary to King George V from 1928 until the king's death in 1936. He held the same position briefly under King Edward VIII but resigned after Edward's abdication. Elevated to the peerage in 1930 as Baron Wigram, of Clewer in the County of Berkshire, Wigram remained active in public life following his retirement, contributing to various boards and committees. His legacy is marked by dedicated service during a period of significant historical change, and he passed away in 1960 at the age of 87.
