Description: STS-PDS-1-72, STS-PDS-1-100 and STS-PDS-1-144 – in self-adhesive Photo Paper STS-PDD-1-72 and STS-PDD-1-144 – in White-background Decal Paper The Space Shuttle Payload Bay Surface Detail set you are looking at were originally scaled to fit the components of the 1/72 scale Monogram/Revell Space Shuttle Orbiter models, either as the Orbiter alone or as part of the Monogram 1/72 Space Shuttle "stack." The images used to create the applications are the result of dozens of hours of research into NASA's online photograph catalog of ground-based Shuttle Operations within the Orbiter Processing Facility or within the Payload Change-Out Facility of the Rotating Service Structure on the pad, during Orbiter servicing and payload installation or removal. This detail set does not provide the same elements as other Payload Bay "Upgrade" sets sold by other modeling suppliers. It attempts to create a "photorealistic" look to the interior surfaces to the Orbiter's Payload Bay. The sets are provided either as pressure-sensitive applications printed onto self-adhesive Photo-grade Paper or printed onto White-background water-slide Decal Stock. The sets provide surface applications for the Forward and Aft Bulkheads of the Payload Bay, applications for the Payload Bay Floor and Side Panels and applications for the Aft end of the Payload Bay's Wiring Chases, which are already molded into the floor elements of the Monogram Model’s Payload Bay, but need to be added to the Revell 1/72 scale, as well as most 1/100 and 1/144 scale Orbiter models. Each surface element must be "trimmed down" off the main sheet, using a sharp hobby knife, such as an X-Acto #11 knife blade. Therefore, this detail set is recommended only for experienced modelers. The set also provides full instructions on how to create the necessary additional user-provide plastic stock items needed to do the job, the tools required and the proper installation of the applications. The photographs supplied here provide an indication of how well the detail set works in actual use. Remember that these Application Sets are intended for use in building your own Shuttle Model project. LCSP currently does not sell finished models of the Space Shuttle.
