It reflects the band's jam-past as well as their more structured songwriting approach. From the rocking instrumentals Waiting, Savor and Soul Sacrifice demonstrating the rock and rhythmic power of the band to the incredibly fun singles Evil Ways and Jingo and finally to the beautiful instrumental entitled Treat with Greg on the piano. All tracks on the album are of high quality. This album always brings a special mood to me. It helps get some of the restless energy out of my body. The three last tracks contain the original unreleased sessions added to the album from The Woodstock Festival in 1969 performance by SANTANA and of course worth listening to. SANTANA's first album is essential rock and a masterpiece of latin infused rock. One of their most popular songs, Oye Como Va has a great looping vocals with nice congas and percussion feel to the song as is Se A Cabo a bit later on. The most nostalgic melancholic instrumental on the album, Samba Pa Ti is followed by the rocking Hope You're Feeling Better. Abraxas is absolutely a fantastic release.
