Description: REGINA HEXAPHONE STYLE 102 PHONOGRAPH We are pleased to offer this wonderful marvel of the early 1900's, made by Regina of New Jersey, USA. Regina was transitioning from music box production to phonographs, and their series of "Hexaphones" are widely considered to be the first true jukeboxes. This is a Style 102 Hexaphone; later styles were designated 103 and 104. The lower compartment, with original lock and key, provides access to the coin box and the upper glass cover releasing mechanism. Housed in a beautiful polished oak cabinet, with a coin-op mechanism that allows the user to select one of six cylinders from the rotating carousel. Upon selecting the cylinder, the winding crank is wound on the right side until it stops, then upon releasing the crank the machine whirls into motion. At the end of the cylinder play the machine comes to rest, waiting for another coin drop. The cylinders are of the 4-minute type, playing through the front-mounted oak horn. The mechanism is mechanically timed, so if the cylinder is less than four minutes, the mandrel will keep spinning until the timer reaches it's shut-off point. There is a tune card showing the titles of the cylinders for selection, and we will include both the cylinders and tune card with the machine. Overall measurements are" 25" wide x 18" deep x 63" high. An extremely nice, well-functioning machine that should provide years of trouble-free operation. We also have in stock an excellent Style 103 Hexaphone, AND the rarest of all, a Style 100 "Automatic Reginaphone", also known as a "Table-Top Hexaphone". Please inquire if interested.
