Description: Rare Vintage Wedgwood Embossed "EDME" Queen's Ware. Pattern Description: Off White, Ribbed Rim, No Trim, Lavender Grape Vines on rim of cups. This style is discontinued, although Wedgwood reintroduced an "Edme Antique White" set in 2008. This was in active production for over a century, from 1908 until 2014. The stylized, embossed ribbing of the elegant Wedgwood Edme design is reminiscent of the ridges of a clam shell, harking back to Josiah Wedgwood's love of shell collecting. The following is a list of pieces available from the drop down list: * 1 - c. 1946 Vintage Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston "EDME" Rimmed Soup Bowl. The bowl measures 8-1/8" width. Excellent condition for it's age with no chips or cracks and no noticeable utensil marks or shelf wear! Under the rim there is one line of crazing to the glaze. The maker's mark is a green stamped circle; this is Wedgwood's standard printed mark from since 1940. Also, the "WEDGWOOD" impressed mark exists along with and impressed mark of "5 1 46". Thus, this vintage piece was manufactured on May 1, 1946. * 6 - c. 1925 Vintage Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston "EDME" Saucer Plates. The saucers measure 5-3/4" width. Excellent condition for their age with no chips or cracks and no noticeable utensil marks or shelf wear! One plate shows light crazing. The maker's marks on these smaller pieces are all impressed stamps of "WEDGWOOD", MADE IN ENGLAND", "N" (denoting the plant) and an alpha-numeric mark of "4 Q B". The first letter of this alpha-numeric code represents the month of manufacture, the second identified the potter who threw the shape and the last letter signifying the year the piece was made. Beginning in 1924 the 4th series of this began with the first stamp being a 4. Thus, this vintage piece was manufactured in 1925. There are similar dating marks on all of the saucers dating them to the 1920's. * 4 - Vintage Wedgwood Embossed Queens Ware "EDME" Footed Cups. Each cup measures 2-3/8" Tall x 3-3/8" Wide. These feature a Plain Edge, Raised Lavender Grapes on a Cream Ribbed body. Discontinued. This pattern was active from unknown dates. Two of these cups have the Brown Wedgwood printed stamp of a scroll surrounding "WEDGWOOD" over "EMBOSSED" over "QUEENS WARE". Under the scrolled frame is "MADE IN ENGLAND". All four of the cups have a black printed stamp that says "U.S.A. PATENT AUGUST 1, 1922". I believe this smaller brown maker's mark was used in the 1940's.
