Rare Lrge 17 " Rookwood 1912 Incised Matte Brown Arts & Crafts 856A Pottery Vase

Description: Just out of a local smoke free house is this rare large Rookwood Matte Brown vase. The vase has an incised Arts and Crafts design. It measures about 17 3/4 inches tall and about 7 3/8 inches wide. The vase is substantial and weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces. It is marked with the shape number 856A but unlike other 856 vases this vase has handles. It has the Rookwood flame mark with Xll for the year 1912. The vase is just as we found it. There appears to be old restorations or repairs on the base and the top "cone"area between the handles. The vase shows some very small white paint specks so it confirms the restorations were done some time ago and they probably painted in the house some time after. It may have other restoration or repair but we are not sure. The vase still displays well but is being sold as found or as is with previous restoration.
