Created from solid cast brass, this piece features a pierced Tudor rose and thistle design with intertwined scrolls and vines. Front has a slight curved profile while the back includes a tapered threaded post (original mounting screws not included). This medallion can be used in a variety ways; add as a decorative detail to wood furniture or cabinetry, hang on the wall as a piece of metal art, or thread onto a fireplace andiron for additional adornment. Henry’s reign ended the so-called ‘War of the Roses’ between the House of Lancaster and the House of York, and the rose became a symbol of peace. Later when James VI of Scotland controlled the English throne, the thistle was integrated into the royal badge. To this day the Tudor Rose and Thistle represents both English and Scottish heritage.
