The putter allows the golfer to putt from a center-balanced position and the design of the club moves the ball forward for the golfer. This allows the golfer to putt from a stable, center-balanced position and have the ball forward for optimal alignment. Allowing golfers to aim more squarely at address, to maintain squareness during the stroke, to maintain overall stability during the stroke, to make more putts, and to reduce total error of missed putts. Golfers reported feeling more confident, more focused, and more satisfied with the quality of the putt while using the Crewser Bob putter compared to their own putter or to the standard commercial putter. Testing for this putter took place in the biomechanics research laboratory at Arizona State University. Twenty golfers of all skill levels (beginners to professionals) were recruited to putt 20 putts in three different conditions, a total of 60 putts. Each golfer putt using their own familiar putter, using the Crewser Bob putter, and using a new putter that had the exact same design as Crewser Bob except that it was offset backwards instead of forward (a standard commercial putter). This rigorous testing allowed us to determine if golfers could perform better than using something familiar to them (their own putter) and if they could perform better with the Crewser Bob (not just because it was different from their own putter), because of the unique design (onset instead of offset like the commercial putter). Results indicated that golfers made 5% more putts using the Crewser Bob putter compared to their own putter or the standard commercial putter with the same head offset backwards.Self-reported self-confidence, attentional control, and quality of the putt were consistently higher with the Crewser Bob putter compared to the other two putters. Center of pressure variability (balance) was measured using a force platform. Golfers using the Crewser Bob putter showed 10% less sway during the stroke compared to using their own putter or the standard commercial putter. Finally, EEG brain maps indicated that the electrical activity in the brain is more balanced between the two hemispheres using the Crewser Bob putter.
