Description: President Lyndon Baines Johnson White House Photo 1967 Jacqueline Kennedy Garden Historic White House Presidential Memorabilia Auctions by Saturday's Toys presents... a vintage official White House photograph of President Lyndon B. Johnson (1908 - 1973) and the LBJ Family as pictured in the new "Jacqueline Kennedy Garden" on November 3, 1967. The original 8" x 10" color print was captured by the White House photography staff (photographer unconfirmed) outside the East Colonnade that leads to the East Wing of the White House. The First Lady's official office has been located on the second floor of the East Wing for many decades and immediately overlooks this garden below. Upon arriving at the White House in 1961, Jacqueline Kennedy immediately set in plans to restore the Rose Garden (adjacent to the West Wing; where the Presidential Oval Office is located) and also to renovate the "East Garden" or "Flower Garden" (adjacent to the East Wing). Unfortunately, both garden areas had suffered significant neglect in prior administrations and just as she transformed the White House interiors, Mrs. Kennedy also set in motion a plan to restore these outdoor spaces as well. The "Flower Garden" renovations were unfinished when Mrs. Kennedy left the White House following JFK's assassination in November 1963. As part of her own landscape beautification efforts, Lady Bird Johnson completed Mrs. Kennedy's work and on April 22, 1965, Mrs. Johnson and her invited guests dedicated the space as "The Jacqueline Kennedy Garden." It was in this beautifully reimagined outdoor setting that the Johnson Family would be captured on film by a White House photographer and the image was then distributed to family, friends and associates throughout the Holiday Season of 1967. Pictured here are Patrick John "Pat" Nugent and Luci Baines Johnson Nugent, Lady Bird Johnson, President Lyndon Baines Johnson, First Grandchild Patrick Lyndon "Lyn" Nugent, Linda Bird Johnson Robb and her husband Charles S. Robb (Virginia). Chuck Robb served as Governor of Virginia (1982 - 1986) also served as U.S. Senator from the State of Virginia (1989 - 2001). Of particular note, the photo perfectly captures the joy of a Grandfather (and President!) with the arrival of his new grandson; a perfect year-end celebration for the Johnson Family. The 8" x 10" print includes an image size of 6.25" x 9.5" Excellent condition, with original White House photo number noted on reverse: "3 NO 67 C 7285-24". The photo print also has the familiar watermark, "A KODAK PAPER" (as was used by Kodak only from 1961 thru 1972).
