Soft glaze colors with glossy finish. Great condition; signed. There are reflections from lighting in photos. Measures 12" tall x 9" wide. Polia Pillin was born in Poland in 1909 and immigrated to the United States when she was 15. Studying painting and sculpture, she met her husband William Pillin. They moved to Los Angeles in 1948 where she opened her pottery studio. Her style is often referred to as “Byzantine” with women, horses, birds, fish as subjects and using jewel-toned colors that makes her pieces very recognizable.
